Enjoy a journey through the music of renowned Greek composers Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis as the Voice and Guitar blend to bring the Music of Greece alive.
Join Australian-Greek mezzo-soprano Katerini Manolatos and Classical guitarist Paul Chantrill as they prepare to embark on their tour of the Greek islands in August 2015 and as they launch their album “A Musical Odyssey: Songs from Greece”.
The program will showcase the music of both Hadjidakis and Theodorakis who were prime movers in the Art song movement in Greece from the late 50’s, using elements of Greek folk music and drawing on words of famous Greek and International poets. Mikis Theodorakis is famous for Zorba the Greek, the soundtrack to the Al Pacino soundtrack Serpico, Manos Hadjidakis for “Never on a Sunday”, Music for the Hollywood film America America and for his writings for Nana Mouskouri.
They look forward to sharing their love of Greece with their Cairns audience. We trust that you too, can embark on your own Musical Odyssey
