DJ Papa Stanley
DJ/Funk/Dance DJ
A stalwart of the Cairns DJ Scene, Papa has been DJing and playing music in Cairns for more than fifteen years.
Well known for his funky tropical vibe, with Jazz and Latin influenced dance tracks a speciality, he is also stretching his chops to include heavier funky electro/breakbeat at his current residency at The Lounge on Thursdays.
He is also an accomplished Bass player, having performed with many local artists including The Raconteurs. Zephyr Deluxe, Sian Evans, Hot Rubber Glove, Chris Wighton, and PA Dutch. In Brisbane prior to Cairns he was a member of notable Brisbane bands Freeside, One Straw, ACT, and The Fabulous Nobodies.
Possessing diverse musical taste and an eclectic collection of music, Papa is equally at home playing jazz over cocktails, retro and groove tunes at weddings, or cranking the kids up at 2am with last weeks electro from San Francisco...

Depends on my mood, and the gig. I can play everything from 30s to 50's jazz through Jazzy House, Deep House, New Jazz, Disco House to banging funky electro breakbeat.
I love the funk! And the jazz...
What I don't play is Hard House, Jump, Trance, psytrance and other such repetitive "nunga nunga nunga" music as I call it... it's got to have soul... |

| Dimitri from Paris, Martin Solveig, St Germain, Devo, Cal Tjader, Thelonius Monk, Dave Brubeck, Ron Carter (I wish!), Sound Republic, Ettiene De Crecy, Malente and many more... |
