Vik Muniz Brazilâ??s most successful modern artist heads for the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, to the Jardim Gramacho, the worldâ??s largest garbage dump. His original plan is to literally paint the local â??â??catadoresâ??â?? - people who eke a living by picking recyclable materials - using garbage as his raw materials. After meeting a lot of these characters, however, he decides to collaborate with them as they recreate photos of themselves - also using the garbage. In any event, the proceeds from sales are to go to the catadores.
