Karen White
Cabaret Singer/guitarist/songwriter
An entertainer with a story to tell in each song Karen was born in England before emigrating here in 1997.
Submersed in the very high density of art & culture FNQ is blessed with a bunch of pushy musically orientated friends one day yanked the closet door ajar baiting a mousy but talented performer to do her party piece, albeit very quietly & shyly. It took a while for the musical toddler to get past crawling but one day she exploded straight into a run - & she is still accelerating.
Apparently the reason for being shut in the closet for so long is due to a sarcastic comment from John, her 30+ year long husband, in the very early days of their relationship. Now hes paying the price late nights, lugging kit here there & everywhere playing roady & manager.
Mostly Karens performances are cover performances but thats not as simple as it sounds. Her passion is unusual which has earned her the reputation in from her Port Douglas mentors for doing quirky & rudey songs, some even adult only listening! The emphasise is on fun & entertainment & for Karen the audience must be able to clearly hear all the words of her songs.
