2011 has brought Katie to Cairns in far north Queensland, Australia. Here Katie has found an amazing musical community flourishing under wide blue skies.
Here in Cairns Katie is working on her first album, a collection of covers and some original tracks. "I have always wanted to record and it seems that the time is right now", Katie said.
Katie is also planning a trip to Nashville in the second half of the year where she will work on her material with Renee Grant Williams. Renee is a world renowned vocal coach who started working with Katie when she arrived in the far north.
It was in Melbourne that Katie originally cut her teeth as a singer. Working for half a decade with Anthony Hope and Alex Franes at countless weddings, corporate functions and even the odd christening. During this time Katie expanded her repertoire from a handful of songs to over 150. This allowed her to meet the crowd halfway in any situation creating a feeling of communication and intimacy with each and every member of the audience.
