She is the Winner of Port Douglas Carnivale Songwriters comp. 2011, and is currently a feature artist on A-Venue's website. She was also chosen by A-Venue to be flown down to Australia's biggest music event Big Sound 2011 and has recently returned from Tamworth Music Festival after a short tour with the Hillbillygoats.
In the past year Leanne watched her song "Mister, Mister" reach #7 in the "top 10 most ordered tracks for airplay" via AirIt, Australias Community Radio Music Catalogue.
Earlier in the year her song "Breathe" reached #1 on the JJJ Roots Unearthed charts and she is currently receiving airplay all over Australia through community radio.
Leanne Tennant is an original singer songwriter with a range of unique covers. Her songs are delivered with such passion, wrapped up in a kind of sweetness that it brings thoughts of Amy Winehouse, Ani Di-franco and The Waifs to mind. Her cocktail of acoustic Folk/Blues with a twist of Gypsy Jazz will leave you wanting more. She rips through catchy guitar riffs and takes you on the highs and lows of her journey with her cheeky lyrics and raw honesty.
Leanne Tennant is a serious Australian talent. Her lyrics express exactly what she feels and she sings with a unique voice that immediately grabs your attention. Listening to her E.P., Are You There? has made me a true believer.
