Mark Burton
Covers/Pop/Rock Solo
MARK BURTON
I am a singer/guitarist playing acoustic and electric guitar.
My performance ranges from acoustic guitar and voice, to augmentation using backing tracks - depending on the venue and situation.
The backing tracks allow me to get a full sound with a strong beat for dancing.
I've created many of the tracks myself and because they aren't so processed, my sound is more of a live sound (I have often been told by people that they thought 'it' was a band playing).
Having worked in bands and duos previously, I missed the harmonies provided by other members once I became a solo performer, so have recorded my own harmonies on the tracks. This gives me a lot more scope and versatility with the songs I choose, enabling me to tackle Beach Boys, Beatles and Eagles songs for instance, plus providing a fuller sound for the listener.
My repertoire focuses on popular songs - Laid Back, Country, Disco, Old Rock&Roll, R&B, Pop, plus New and Classic Rock (see sample set list).
I also like to include some favourites that are a bit more rare, but still popular - like re-visiting old friends.
While I have originals in my song list, I don't always play them, judging when the audience is going to be responsive or not at the venue.
Having over 500 songs in my repertoire, I have something to please everyone - and any age group.
