'RIVERS RUN reveals my ongoing physical engagement with Tasmania. These works document my attempts to move not only through place but time. Running, driving, kayaking, climbing fences and wandering roadsides these actions record, test and visually represent how I might find myself in the land of my maternal Aboriginal ancestors. These works are motivated by a desire to transact with a past that seems just beyond the horizon, around the next bend, through that locked farm gate. Testing how I recognize my island and if it still recognizes me 6 generations since my tribal past, each piece is a fragment of my desire to recall and understand what happened in lethal frontier Van Diemens Land before it became amnesiac Tasmania. '
