Tanks World Music Series Concert #3
Tanks World Music Series 2012 (one ticket for each of the four concerts in the series) can be purchased from Monday 12th Decembert 2011. Individual concert tickets for the Shaolin Afronauts can be purchased from 16th April 2012.
This 9-piece band of young masked marvels from South Australia, bring their bodacious brass and electrifying guitar-driven mix of afrobeat, funk and jazz to Tanks. They blew everyone away at the 2011 WOMADelaide festival and went on to score an ARIA nomination for their debut album Flight of the Ancients, in the World Music category. So, what do they do? Best summed up by Ross McHenry, one of the group members:

"We try to explore the music of 1970s West Africa with our own take on that". "It's very expressive music ... it actually helps to have some sort of guise that you can use to express yourself so that you're not standing there in T-shirt and jeans." .
