Steve Williams
Acoustic/Covers/Originals Solo
Steve Williams hails from Cardiff and was in his mid-teens when he kickstarted his career playing with bands in the pubs and clubs of the Welsh capital.
After landing in Cairns six years ago, he found himself in demand as a solo performer and as part of the duo, the Love Mongrels. Securing residencies at Johno’s, Boydy’s and the Green Ant Cantina.
Following a spell back in Wales, Steve has wasted no time re-establishing himself on the local music scene. While he plays cover songs, Williams has put the accent on his own compositions in recent years.
“I’ve got a couple of hours worth of original tunes together now.” he says with a palpable sense of satisfaction.
A solid yet understated guitarist, Williams puts the emphasis on vocal performance. As he says, “ I like to ensure the song is sung, and the sentiment carried.”

His most recent album “Bones” receiving acclaim he has become a popular favourite on the local music scene.

Review by Elise Meakin (Cairns Post)
British-born Williams, who became a Cairns local not long ago, is one the Far North should definitely claim as its own. With his smooth vocals and natural talent on the acoustic guitar, Williams’ soothing beats are great for a groove or just to chill out.
