The Brown Note Theory

Rock/Roots/Electronica Band

The Brown Note Theory are a new musical trio based in Cairns who utilize elements of roots, rock and electronica in their sound. Performing 100% live with no sequenced tracks, TBNT mix traditional guitar, bass, and drums with theremin, analog delays, and bass synth to conjure up their own brand of sonic mayhem.

TBNT came together in early 2010 when former full time musicians Simon Wynyard and Todd Macalpine met at a show they were both involved in the sound engineering and production side of. They discovered they shared a common belief that the people on the other side of the mixing desk were having far more fun than them, and that they should immediately set about correcting this grave injustice. After going through drummers at a rate that would make Spinal Tap blush, they settled on drummer/percussionist Brad Foster and The Brown Note Theory was born.

After several months of writing, rehearsing and recording, The Brown Note Theory will be launching both the band and their debut E.P at AJ Hacketts Bungy on the 17th of September. The band will be giving away free codes to download the E.P to everyone that mentions their name at the door. Also on the double bill is rootsy Melbourne act April Maze who are also launching their new CD. Doors open 7pm, tickets only $15 at the door.
