**** CANCELLED - September 24 UMI Arts Indigenous Markets have been CANCELLED ****
UMI Arts wishes to advise that due to on-going wet weather, the September 24 UMI Arts Indigenous Markets have been CANCELLED.
We appologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused. Performers and stall-holders are concerned about musical instruments and arts and crafts getting wet, so we thank you all for your understanding.
We are planning a special 'bumper' Markets for October 29 - they will start earlier, run longer and be packed with more music, dance and stall-holders. Based on the success of our Small Brother Small Sister program showcase during the UMI Arts Big Talk One Fire Indigneous Cultural Festival 2010, we're also planning to include a special childrens' component in these Markets. Please stay tuned for further details in the coming weeks.

The UMI Arts Indigenous Markets are a 'must see, must do' event in Cairns.
The Markets bring together authentic traditional and contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, dance and story telling, as well as arts, crafts and clothing stalls. The Markets are unique to Cairns and are a celebration of arts and culture from around Far North Queensland.
The UMI Arts Markets happen on the Esplanade, in the heart of the Cairns CBD and adjacent to the popular swimming lagoon and restaurant strip. From 4pm to 9pm locals and visitors alike come together in the relaxed setting of shady trees and grassy lawns, to enjoy, learn about, and share in the celebration of traditional and contemporary Indigenous arts and culture in Far North Queensland.
On the last Friday of each month (during May to October 2010), gather your family and friends, a comfy rug, and come to our UMI Arts Indigenous Markets for an evening of entertainment, fun and shopping!
The final Markets date for 2010 is:
Friday 29th October, 4-9pm
