This is the Final UMI Arts Indigenous Markets for 2010, be sure not to miss it!

The Markets bring together authentic traditional and contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, dance and story telling, as well as arts, crafts and clothing stalls. The Markets are unique to Cairns and are a celebration of Indigenous arts and culture from around Far North Queensland.

Performers at these final Markets for 2010 include musicians Fade to Black, Nite Owls, Reggae Bliss, Cold Water, Ghekko & Jordan, and Jun Jun Jarra, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island dance performances by the Pamagirri Dances, Gimuy Ladies Dancers, the Boigu Island Dancers and Gerib Sik.

Market stalls surround the performance area, where an exciting range of arts, crafts, jewellery and clothing can be purchased directly from those who make them!

The UMI Arts Markets happen on the Esplanade, in the heart of the Cairns CBD and adjacent to the popular swimming lagoon and restaurant strip. From 1pm to 9pm locals and visitors alike come together in the relaxed setting of shady trees and grassy lawns, to enjoy, learn about, and share in the celebration of traditional and contemporary Indigenous arts and culture in Far North Queensland.

Gather your family and friends, a comfy rug, and come to our UMI Arts Indigenous Markets for an afternoon and evening of entertainment, fun and shopping!
