Tjaka
Having played Splendour in the Grass, Dark Mofo, BIGSOUND, and in front of 30,000 people at Taiwan's PASIWALI Festival, Tjaka have proved to be a must see act whenever, and wherever they play.
Brothers Geoff and Jake Fabila are descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe in the WA Kimberley and, joined by best mate Felix Fogarty, this Brisbane/Meanjin-based trio fuse electronic beats and lava-hot rap flow, which melt audiences in a crucible of funk, reggae, and dance.
Tjaka's high-energy bangers introduce the use of Didjeribone (a slide didgeridoo, similar to a trombone), ripping guitar solos, and the deep sounds of the FaceBass to create a contemporary Indigenous experience like no other.
Supported by Phat Love
Far North born and bred, Phat Love is more than a band, it is a movement and a collective. With each member bringing their own style and influences, they seamlessly blend their large array of instruments and voices across multiple genres. Predominantly considered Funk/Hip-Hop, their music fuses fun and heartfelt rap and rhyme with mind blowing, skilfully presented instrumentals intertwined with soulful female vocals.
The group has and continues to grow quite the loyal following, performing festivals and headlining shows, organising and setting up local events and even supporting and playing alongside Australian heavyweights such as Mau Power and Drapht. A performance not to be missed, their mind stimulating show will have you laughing, dancing, hugging your neighbour and singing along. The name says it all. Phat Love to all.
