Ben Wilson is an award winning Songwriter from Northern NSW. Taking the intimacy of folk and fusing it with the energy of old time rock\\\'n\\\' roll, making for captivating performances. A quest for authenticity, with songwriting always at its core.
Born and raised in Brighton England, Ben Wilson\\\'s solo career kicked off after moving to Lismore NSW at the age of 21. In 2013 he won Songwriter of the Year at the Lismore Young Songwriters competition. Wilson then self-released two well received EPs (Lonely One 2013, St Albans 2015). Ben went on to play many prestigious festivals across Australia including Splendour in The Grass (after becoming a finalist of the Busking Competition), Falls Music and Arts festival, Mullum Music Fest, Bello Winter Music Fest and many others. In 2017 he won the award for Outstanding Original Music at the Bangalow BBQ & Bluegrass Festival, the prize with which he recorded his debut album ‘Give Me That Hammer’. Wilson\\\'s style takes influence from 60’s folk and rock ‘n’ roll and presents it on an old-time backdrop. Ben\\\'s new album \\\'Prove\\\', takes greater inspiration from his love of 50\\\'s rock and roll, spearheading it with a lyrical content which is fresh, punchy and relevant to the current climate. Minimalist accompaniments (violin, bass, guitar) to Wilson’s sentimental songs make for intimate, captivating performances. Think Buddy Holly and Elliott Smith combined with Bruce Springteen’s Nebraska.
