JC Stylles PRESENTS

JC Stylles is a Jazz Guitarist and International Recording Artist who initially grew up in the Far North Queensland town of Kuranda, Australia.

At 16 years of age he left the Kuranda Rainforests for Sydney, where significantly in his development, he had the opportunity to attend 2 shows nightly for a week of the touring jazz guitar great George Benson. This sponge-like absorption at such a close range left an indelible mark in his development long term as a guitarist. He also had the opportunity simultaneously to study with an incredible array of touring Jazz Giants at the time that included John Scofield, Steve Erquiaga, Miroslav Vitous, Woody Shaw, Johnny Griffin and others.

Having initially immigrated to New York in 1992, he continued studies with the likes of Pat Martino, Tal Farlow, Rodney Jones, John Abercombie and Barry Harris and further developed his skills in clubs like Visione’s before returning to Australia in the mid-nineties.

Relocating back to New York in 2005, he’s spent nearly 20 years combined in the Jazz Capital of the World, where he released the recordings “Chillin’ at Home” and “Live & Unveiled”, of which both are in the guitar/organ trio format where he staked his claim. He was then signed to Grammy Winning Label “Motema Music” and released “Exhilaration & other states” that spent 13 consecutive weeks on the USA Jazz Charts. His subsequent release “Blakey Grease” out on American Showplace records, won the award for the highest debut on the USA Jazz Charts and raced into the Top 5 and both are heavily featured on iTunes & Spotify.

He has performed at various Jazz Festivals Nationally & Internationally including Europe, and with many of the best Jazz Organists in the business, including Jimmy McGriff, Dr Lonnie Smith, Tony Monaco, Pat Bianchi, Seleno Clarke, Jimmy “Preacher” Robbins, Melvin Davis, Nathan Lucas, Akiko Tsuruga, Brian Charrette, Jared Gold, Kyle Koehler and many others. Additionally, he was actively involved in managing 2 of New Yorks Premier Jazz Club’s in “Smalls Jazz Club” and “Mezzrow” for several years, and produced, hosted and performed at the largest Jazz Memorial Concert held at Jazz at Lincoln Centre for 2020, which included Grammy Winners Wynton Marsalis & Cecile McLoren Salvant amongst many others.

Due to the Covid Shutdown of New York City on 16 March 2020, he was forced to return back to Far North Queensland, where he endeavors to bring international standard live jazz to those that hunger for it in a region that often misses out. He has recently produced several independent Jazz shows in Cairns that have all sold out, and will continue to create, promote and perform Jazz in the region at this time due to the current covid climate.

He will also be assisting and promoting other artists of distinction under his entertainment booking services “JC Stylles Presents”.
