Koahlition are a colourful six piece, family oriented, reggae band playing upbeat, positive, roots, rock, reggae with a quirky Aussie twang and a South Pacific breeze. Their insightful originals are interwoven with ideas of social conscience, have dancing beats, driving bass and skankin' rhythms, infused with electric lead guitar and melodic, soulful harmonies. Being Australian Reggae, the bands' originals have a guitar oriented rocky edge. The music is raw and real.
As well as three family members, Rohan Rusch, partner Tracy and son Adric, the band consists of Cuz Sharmaine Drieberg-Cullen and Samoan born songstress Tanya Volentras sharing vocals. Saibai Island guitar wizard, Moses Warusam and talented local Djabugay drummer, Aaron Riley, complete the lineup. The band has played many festivals and gigs all over the Far North in the past few years and has become one of North Queenslands premier Reggae outfits. Still keeping it fresh, Koahlition has released a CD late in 2012 featuring some of Cairns finest musicians. The CD was produced by esteemed drummer Ben Hakalitz (Yothu Yindi).
Koahlition are seasoned performers at festivals, public and private functions and corporate events.
"Koahlition provided the entertainment for the conference dinner of the Tropics of the Imagination Conference at James Cook University, for which I was the convenor. They provided both acoustic and amplified music which was beautiful and perfect for the conference and the beachside venue at Reef House Resort Palm Cove. Even though the music was central to the evening it was not so loud as to damper conversation and both networking and dancing was able to occur. In fact, a few bars of Stir It Up, and compulsive foot-tapping soon changed to dancing. One distinguished Professor from Melbourne commented it was the only conference she had even attended where all the delegates were up on the dance-floor."
"Koahlition are clearly seasoned entertainers, with beautiful captivating harmonies and a professional manner."

"Let me first start off by saying on a personal note, this band has appeal to the young and the mature and they just keep getting better. I have had Koahlition play at the Kuranda Rainforest Retreat many times in the last 12 months and they always impress. Their style of music is a sophisticated yet soul soothing, simply one of the best local bands I have ever seen. Their talent and professionalism is refreshing and hard to find. I would absolutely have no hesitation recommending this great Australian band for your next function, party or corporate event.
