Phoenix Rising is an alternative rock four-piece based in Cairns, Far North Queensland. Playing a raucous, riff-heavy brand of hard-edged rock, that draws inspiration from the likes of AC DC, Deep Purple and Wolf Mother, the groups high-octane live show is renowned as a sight not to be missed. With a mean age of about 15, its their youth, precociousness and sheer unreined energy that really sets these youngsters apart from the rest.

Currently readying their highly anticipated debut EP for release in early 2011, Phoenix Rising continue to wow loving local audiences, rocking the last two Ravizza Park Anzac Day Concerts, McDonalds McHappy Day, and the Edmonton Fright Night and the Babinda Warp Out Festivals organised by The Tanks in Cairns. Their proudest achievement so far is being selected for and performing very strongly in the heats of annual Cairns Timeout Battle of The Bands. Other notable highlights include competing in the band playoffs for the motorcycle expo in Kuranda, winning "best performance" at the High Schools' Battle of the Bands, the Sauteed Schoolies concert on the nard and two explosive concerts at Gordonvale and Woree High schools.

The group came together in 2008 as an amalgam of two former Balaclava Primary School bands, The Awesome Bunch, and Fast Forward. From early on, Phoenix Rising stunned audiences with their original material and unique stage presence, playing at both the annual Schools Cultural Festivals on the Esplanade and High Schools Battle of the Bands twice, and sporting events. In the coming years, these youngsters have their sights set on joining the local festival scene, and sharing the stage with profile touring acts, while continuing to hone their live show.
