SUNBIRD TRIO

"Sunbird are a world class international act." Tony Hillier, music journalist (The Australian, Rhythms Magazine).

The harmonious, uplifting and embracing sounds of Sunbird Trio are delivered by the beautiful voices of Belinda Butler, Shari Williams and Rachel Bradley.

All three women have successful individual careers in music, (more about that below) yet have a tight knit, engaging and comedic stage presence collectively through their natural chemistry.
Audiences have the opportunity to catch Sunbird Trio seasonally when Belinda Butler Sunbird flys back to the nest from New Orleans, Louisiana, to their home base of Far North Qld.

A strong, loyal and eager following await Sunbird here in Queensland after performances at several notable venues and festivals including, Undara Country Rock and Blues Festival, Festival Cairns, Tanks Art Center, Yungaburra Folk Fest and Bar 36 in the Reef Hotel Casino. They’ve also been featured on ABC Radio, Star FM and Australia All Over with Ian McNamara. In the U.S. the ‘birds pulled a substantial crowd for a special ‘one night only’ performance at the revered venue, Chickie Wah Wah, in New Orleans, with the cream of the city’s musicians. This delighted the locals and remains memorable for the many attendees. Original tunes recorded during their New Orleans sessions - Woman Inside the Girl and Savannah Way are available under Sunbird Trio on all of your favourite streaming services. Sunbird would love to share their rich sound of well crafted originals and reinvented covers with your audience at venues, festivals & in community throughout North Qld.

A BIT MORE ABOUT THE 'BIRDS.

Belinda Butler Sunbird - the bel of the band, recently performed for the third time (back by popular demand) at the Dome in New Orleans for the NBA with her U.S. group, the Chickpeas Trio (yes, Steph Curry has seen our girl sing), and also performed on the television show, Great Day Louisiana with her band, Nell & Bel. Belinda had the honour of singing solo for the Australian Consulate General in America for their ANZAC Day celebrations. She’s currently uplifting the believers as music leader for New Orleans Community Church. Back in Oz, after releasing her self-titled e.p., Belinda's cute and catchy track, Microwave Oven was chosen by the ABC for their Fresh Air Initiative and further received the top spot, landing her an invitation from the Queenscliff Music Festival in Victoria to play with her band, the Good Things, alongside some of Australia’s biggest and brightest talents. Belinda also won a place on the ABC national playlist with the song and performed on Channel 9’s Today Show.

Rachel Bradley Sunbird with her rich alto warmth, in voice and in nature, is the Sunbird glue that captivates audiences with her mischievous sense of humour and cabaret/vaudeville performance style. Rachel attended the Victorian College of Arts and both performed and stage-managed for the famed and long-running theatre restaurant, Dracula, in Melbourne. This woman of many talents has not only stage managed several successful productions but is arguably the finest children’s face painter this side of the Great Divide (and probably the world - just saying). Rachel has delighted the littles by magically transforming them into vivid and colourful characters with a few flicks of her face painting brush. This talent has allowed her to extensively tour the communities of North Qld. Rachel also toured Australia as part of the talented original music duo, ……. In Sunbird Trio, Rachel plays a rhythmic ukulele, blues/folk harp and sings up a storm.

Shari Williams Sunbird - the raven-haired rock’n’roller of the group, has more in common with AC/DC than anyone else in this outfit. This is the chick who can sing like a bird (a Sunbird at that), play congas and quip one-liners to leave you in stitches and then unpick them one by one, with her touching and tender renditions of your favourite tunes, but that is far from all. This powerhouse of a woman with both guts and glamour, flys planes and scuba dives with sharks in her spare time while the rest of us are sipping our morning tea. Originally from Sydney, Shari moved to the Far North and formed her band, Shari and the Mice, recording an e.p. and playing for wild and wonderful events all over the state. Shari, most notably, won a Q Music award for her self-penned song Dusty Boots, which exemplifies her grit and strength.
