His own musical career began at the age of 15 drumming in a band around Shepparton before relocating to Western Australia. rnThere he played he played with the infamous Wayne Green and The Phantoms and Nosmoking featuring renowned Australian guitarist Russel Smith and his cousin Peter “Brolga” Coughlan of Goanna and Redgum fame. rnIn 1985, Terry drifted to Cairns drumming for the Party Starters and Deadbeats LIVE. rnBut he got sick of the drums and extended himself by buying a guitar and mastering it. rnReturning south, he honed his skills as a guitar man, writing his own songs and becoming an all-round entertainer. rnThe North beckoned and he came back as a versatile musician at home with blues, rhythm n blues, rock’n’roll and country. Many music lovers in Cairns will remember him as one of the main blues men performing at Johno’s Blues Bar. rnTerry returned to Cairns as an accomplished guitarist and was eventually recognised for his achievements with a string of awards in the past 15 years.rnDavis Anthony Media rnMusic Journalistrn rnWHAT: Official launch of Terry Doyle’s new album Arcadia.rnWHERE: North Cairns Football and Netball Club, Manunda.rnWHEN: Saturday, October 19, 6.30pm for 7pm.rnFor more information: Terry Doyle 0418 712 |
