With their first original CD currently underway and a four month Australian east coast summer tour planned for the end of 2013 Port Douglas based Timber & Wood have been a huge hit around the pubs and clubs of Far North Queensland bringing a fresh unique sound to the music scene. Founding members Shannon Clark & Marty Brown, originally from country Southern and North-East Victoria respectively found music early in the teen years being given half beaten barely strung guitars but with enough sound left in them to entertain the musical obsession that was to follow. Learning their craft in the south both boys followed the road that led them to Port Douglas in Far North Queensland and ultimately led them to meet each other at one of hundreds of weekly African drum/acoustic jam sessions in the local park, an instant musical bond was formed and after 3 years of practice they decided it was time to step out of the park and into the circuit. All that remained was to find another suitable vocalist, enter Maisy-Lou, a Mt. Isa born and bred dread-locked beauty with a soaring blues infused Janis Joplin inspired voice that's a whole lot bigger than her small physical stature. With years spent belting out tunes to her mums record collection Maisy was unknowingly already in training for the career ahead of her and with numerous tours, studio recording and a long list of gigs on her resume she was the perfect candidate. The three meshed instantly and Timber & Wood was officially born, they haven't looked back since...

Timber and Wood use a variety of rotating instruments to keep the sound evolving and interesting during recording and live shows with the bands solid thumping heart beat being driven by Clark's right foot using the inventive mandolin case stomp-box (or Home-Of-Toby as they call it) surrounded by percussionist Marty Browns use of the Peruvian/Spanish inspired Cajon box and his self-made patented Tambo-pedal which together replaces a standard drum kit with a more simplified but much more organic sounding dynamic, and a lot less road gear. Add in some dirty slide guitar, banjo, congas, Hang Drums, Didge, ankle bells and acoustic guitars and vocal harmonies that cannot be faulted and you have the earthy organic Timber and Wood sound. With a broad range of Reggae, Folk/Rock and Blues covers the influences of Mumford & Sons, Bob Marley, Xavier Rudd and The John Butler Trio resonate and shine through their performances and make for a memorable experience.

A new addition to the festival scene, Timber & Wood are on the way up at a rapid rate and should'nt be missed. With a relaxed banter and a fun stage vibe these guys don't dissapoint and will have you up-turning tables and dancing in no time...
